Beautiful, young Jennifer
Love Hewitt (she prefers to be called Love) is one of the
up and coming faces we will be seeing a lot of in the next
few years. She is currently breaking into movies with great
success after an equally successful run on television.
Born in Waco, Texas, Love
Hewitt started out in the same way as many actors her age.
Her humble beginnings began with local performances (in
her case they took place in a pig barn). She joined a dance
troupe with which she got to travel, most significantly
to Russia. These early experiences sowed the seeds of showbiz
wonder and her family soon moved to California.
Love's claim to fame has
been the critically acclaimed and fan favorite television
show Party of Five. According to Love, it has been an enjoyable
experience. As Sarah Reeves, on Party of Five, she has garnered
herself legions of adoring fans. Indeed, it was recently
announced that Love will be taking her Sarah character to
a new show. The spin off will give the supporting character
of Sarah Reeves a chance to fully develop as she searches
for her birth parents.
Even before she hit television
gold though, she was a hard working actress who could list
several television and film credits in her resume. She appeared
on the short lived t.v. series Byrds of Paradise and Kids,
Incorporated. On the big screen, she was seen in Sister
Act 2: Back in the Habit, where she got to demonstrate her
singing talent, and House Arrest.
She has also parlayed her
singing abilities into several albums. Her pop albums, consisting
of fluffy dance music and love ballads, haven't been a great
success here in America but they're huge overseas. Recently,
she sang a song for the I Still Know What You Did Last Summer
soundtrack, which changed that. The song, and the movie
were both hits.
Lately, the name Jennifer
Love Hewitt has been on many people's lips, but not because
of her singing voice, nor even for Party of Five. It's her
recent film success in I Know What You Did Last Summer and
its sequel that has them talking. The film blew away some
stiff box office competition and showed what power young
Miss Love could wield. Even her relatively small role in
Cant Hardly Wait, assured that film some unexpected
box office. The offers for future projects are already accumulating.
Whats more impressive is that Hewitt isnt just
waiting for the projects to come to her either. After she
woke up one morning from a dream-filled night she was overtaken
by an idea and wrote it all down on paper. The paper soon
became a story treatment which soon developed into a film,
Mary Me Jane, which she will produce and star in herself.
In fact, she is close to sealing a production deal with
Columbia Pictures.
With her movie, and her
new television series, Love has still managed to find time
for more. She will appear in Ben Stiller's The Suburbans
and ABCs biopic of Audrey Hepburn and she
has also appeared in a few commercials with basketball star,
Michael Jordan.
Love resides in the Los
Angeles area with her mother and two cats, Haylie and Don
Juan DeMarco (named after her favorite movie).
